SIDBI has been established under an act of the Indian Parliament in 1990. It serves as the principal financial institution for the promotion, financing and development of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector and coordination of the functions of institutions engaged in similar activities.

Saathi Ventures build and support ventures, focused on solving pressing issues of our time. Their current portfolio ventures are:
1. Saathi Foundation promotes inclusive entrepreneurship and runs entrepreneurship support programs and activities for the early-stage overlooked entrepreneurs.
2. Saathi Cares provides comprehensive oral health care services to underserved communities regardless of their ability to pay at the last mile.
